How can i start getting prepared for “The school of Art Institute Of Chicago”?
I want to get into “The School Of Art Institute Of Chicago” but im only begining highschool so how do i get ready?

The answer in the following:

Answer by Lewis A
start getting pieces for your porfolio, Contact the Art institute and have them send you whatever paperwork they can. They will ALWAYS tell you what the are looking for in a portfolio, and also other requirements to get accepted. Than ask any art teacher in your school to help you build a strong portfolio. I’m sure they will be more than willing to help you.

Answer by elaynekicksass
Art Institute schools are fairly easy to get into. They just cost a LOT. Try to get grants. Make sure you apply every quarter.
I went to the one in Pittsburgh 15 years ago and I’m still paying it off.

Also,
What field do you want to study? and what kind of career do you want. Artist do not get paid very well, and Art Schools tend to embellish the success rate of their students.

Many times the only jobs available for graduates is graphic design work–for people who major in design, cartooning or illustration.

If you study Industrial Technology, which is a lot of sculpting, most of the jobs are in the film industry which requires a move to Hollywood to make a career out of it.

People I know who studied fashion design ended up managers in clothing stores.

If you want to make a living selling your paintings, I would suggest going to law school and painting as a hobby/side job.

Anyway, A lot of graphic designers I’ve worked with never even went to school for it. So if you can learn software like QuarkXpress, and Adobe Creative Suite on your own, you can save yourself thousands.

Answer by cottey girl
I would suggest you do more than request paperwork from the Institute. Contact them personally and speak to an admissions representative and ask them this question. They will be impressed with your foresight and you will get on their mailing list early. Materials will be valuable, but personal advice will be even more so from those who know exactly what you need in order to be admitted to their school and do well.

Know better? Leave your own answer in the comments!

Matthew White of Dirk+Weiss, is now teaching a Pre-College class; Graphic Design Techniques at The Art Institute of Boston (Lesley University). Week Two, covering collaboration between designers, fabricators, and other important connections. Students collaborate to create a new design concept from scratch. Nice Results!

The Queer Art of Failure is about finding alternatives—to conventional understandings of success in a heteronormative, capitalist society; to academic disciplines that confirm what is already known according to approved methods of knowing; and to cultural criticism that claims to break new ground but cleaves to conventional archives. Judith Halberstam proposes “low theory” as a mode of thinking and writing that operates at many different levels at once. Low theory is derived from eccentric

Hello World! or: How I Learned to Stop Listening and Love the Noise (2008) stitches more than 5000 video diaries gathered from MySpace, YouTube, and Facebook into a massive, panoramic crowd of individual talking heads. It is simultaneously a critical look at the growing cacophony of participatory media and an optimistic meditation on its democratizing potential.

Each video diary consists of a single speaker candidly addressing an imagined, potentially massive audience from a private space such as a bedroom, kitchen, or dorm room. The individual monologues are mundane–records of daily activities, opinions, feelings, and frustrations–but together they reveal a fascinating patchwork of life lived online.

Artist Christopher Baker, originally trained as a scientist, examines the complex relationship between society and its technologies by recontextualizing captured communications and visualizing large sets of data. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Art and Technology Studies department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
