In this art lesson about creating doodling and comics (or “comix” as I prefer), I explore a mashup between sequetial art and doodling. Two exciting art forms are doodling (that is, “automatic drawing”), and comic book storytelling, that is, “sequential art”. Each is unique and exciting: doodles are carefree and spontaneous, whereas comic book story telling is much more structures (with the narrative line forced into a series of boxes or panels. Thus, both artforms complement each other: doodles can add creativity and visual interest to the structured composition of the comic book layout. And by the same token, the boxy comic book layout can add structure to the free-associative quality of doodles. doodlecomix.com Video Rating: 0 / 5
Some times we need to hear the answer from somebody else. I went out and interviewed some Sequential art majors and an Illustration major. Feel free to ask me any questions about SCAD. Also big thanks to Sara, Lisa, Cassie, and Collin.

Right now it’s everything from professional acrylics like cad yellow, to my standard craft acrylics to this fluorescent watercolour set someone gave me for a birthday years ago.
Grid is to reference mock-up.
Show is on! December 2008 at Sequential Art Gallery. Once the show is over I’ll post the finished piece.

Background figures sketched in. The rest of this is going to be edited and painted in PS. I like combining my media. If there was a way to shove dimensionality or sculpture in, I would.

"In Control, Penrose/Bontrager design and play a game that explores the relationships between automated process, user and interface. The turn-based game takes place throughout the exhibition’s run as each artist develops his individual system in response to the sequential developments of the other.
City Center Gallery becomes a battleground; lines are drawn, and the work is incrementally embedded into the space. This adversarial collaboration drives the evolution of the total work.
Penrose/Bontrager are attracted to the stylized control panels that exist within the video-scape of film and television. Littered with flashing lights, switches, buttons and sliders, these control panels suggest a world of possibilities between the user and the automated process. Through engaging these materials, the work poses such questions as: What does a button do? How does it do it? And what is done to the one who pushes it?"

Olympus early Thursday remade its entire PEN camera line and headlined it with the E-P3. The camera uses a genuinely new 12.3-megapixel CMOS sensor and the first dual-core TruePic VI processor to reach much faster autofocus performance than not just other Micro Four Thirds cameras but most interchangeable lens cameras. It can supposedly outperform its higher-end rival, the Panasonic GH2, as well … Read more on MacNN
