Title: Modular Piece
Artist: Sol Lewitt
On my way home this afternoon, the sky was almost perfectly blue. So, I stopped at the Pappajohn Sculpture Park. I have several photos from there on Flickr already; the place is a gift that keeps on giving, especially if you have a camera.
I gave myself a "self challenge" and the rules were: (1) the only thing that could be in the photo was the sculpture and the sky; (2) any photo posted to Flickr would not be cropped; and (3) I would do no processing to the photo and rely totally on the camera settings.
In short, just a boy and his camera. It was a good exercise to really help me pay close attention to what was in the entire frame, as well as trust my camera settings.
So, what you see is what you get. I’ve posted several of the shots I took today. Frankly, I didn’t necessarily have a favorite for my 365 project shot, so because this image was the first one I shot it wins by default. If you have a minute, I hope you enjoy a few of the other photos from this series.

Nomade

This sculpture by Jaume Plensa in the Pappajohn Sculpture Park is a camera magnet. It’s just hard not to take a photo of it, and while I have no way of proving this, I suspect this is the single-most photographed object in the entire city. I was playing around with a fisheye lens over the weekend and figured I hadn’t taken a shot of Nomade yet with that lens, so what the heck.

Title: air gets into everything even nothing
Artist: Ugo Rondinone
I completed my "self challenge" of taking photos at the Pappajohn Sculpture Park. My self-imposed rules were simple: (1) only the sculpture and the sky could be in the photo; (2) the photos posted to Flickr would not be cropped; and (3) no processing of any sort would be done to the photo. Everything in this series is straight out of the camera.

This is the one photo that I screwed up (note the radio tower in the lower right corner) but how could I resist a sun flare between the bunny ears?
