Good Afternoon,
If you are going to school for Commercial Art, you will be learning to draw, paint and design for advertising and commercial purposes. Photography is used in advertising, but you won’t be getting into that unless you are going to college for art and are able to take an elective course in Photography, which will probably include learning to photograph people, objects and things to be used in advertising. I don’t know whether you are in high school or ready to go to college.
This is the career path that I took, so this is how most courses usually go. I hope this helps clear up the difference between the two. Good Luck!
Sincerely,
arted
