    The scene is little changed today.

    Hate to be pedantic, the soldier is a Sergeant in the 93rd Highlanders (later The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise’s). He also appears to have his sash on the wrong shoulder!

    Thank you, no problem, however I was only going on J.G. Millais’ biography of his father…I certainly claim no inside knowledge of Highland military regalia. I’m sure Southampton art Gallery would like to know this.
