Joslyn Art Musesum Feb 23

As Nebraskas largest and most distinguished art museum, Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha has served as the premier center for visual art since opening in 1931. Joslyn’s collection features work from antiquity to the present, with an emphasis on 19th- and 20th-century European and American art. Highlights of the permanent collection include works by Lorenzo di Credi, El Greco, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Albert Bierstadt, and Thomas Hart Benton. American masters such as Grant Wood, Jackson Pollock, Dale Chihuly, and George Segal are also represented. Joslyn is renowned for its collection of art of the American West, and known worldwide for its collection of Swiss artist Karl Bodmers watercolors and prints documenting his 18321834 journey to the Missouri River frontier with German Prince Maximilian of Wied. Several special exhibitions are presented each year, complementing the permanent collection and offering a broad range of art to everyone. Year-round musical performances, educational lectures by national and international scholars, and art classes for all ages further enhance the Joslyn experience.

Bruno Mars on why it’s important to be a Recording Academy Member Feb 23

Singer/songwriter/producer Bruno Mars visited The Recording Academy headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif., on Aug. 10, accompanied by singer/songwriter Philip Lawrence and Brian Wiggins on piano, for an intimate acoustic set including “Just The Way You Are” and “Billionaire,” a track on which he collaborated with rap artist Travie McCoy. Following the performance, Mars participated in 5 Questions With…, answering questions regarding the importance of membership in The Recording Academy, hearing his music for the first time on the radio, musical influences and mentors, and where the name Bruno Mars came from. “I’ve been Bruno ever since I can remember,” said Mars. “The Mars just kind of came out of nowhere…people say I’m out of this world.” More on GRAMMY.com: bit.ly

Art Institute Students Make History on Iron Chef America Feb 22

After competing against Iron Chef Michael Symon in “Battle Balsamic,” three student chefs from The International Culinary School at The Art Institutes of Phoenix became a part of history. Never before had chefs so young competed on so grand a stage. And competed so well. Since then, they’ve all finished school and started their culinary careers. Recently, we caught up with each of them to get an update on their progress. Julie Fiedler After graduating from The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Phoenix in September of 2010, Julie has parlayed her culinary pedigree into work at fine dining restaurants. Her competition experience has fueled her desire to further her knowledge of international cuisine and she plans to do some intercontinental travel in the near future. According to Julie, culinary school taught her to “work hard and take advantage of every opportunity.” That’s why, despite all the accolades, she’s always striving to do better. Tyler Burke As a new homeowner and new father, Tyler has seen a lot of changes in the months following his graduation from The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Phoenix in March of 2010. Having settled in the valley of Phoenix, he is currently working at a The Royal Palms T-Cooks Restaurant as the Lead Saute. Competing against some of the most talented young chefs around the globe has given Tyler the confidence to succeed in any situation. “We stood against the best of the best…and we held our

Want to buy Israeli/ Jewish art made out of Hewbrew letters?
When I visited Israel a few years ago I saw some beautiful pictures for sale that were made up from lots of tiny Hewbrew words in shapes, then overlaid with colour to form a picture.

I’d love to get one for my Mum – anyone know where to buy them – especially places that are in the UK OR will send to the UK?
